Reading Program
Did you know that in the US, 20% of the population have learning disabilities and that the vast majority of them struggle with reading and spelling (dyslexia)? In LAUSD alone, there are more than 28,000 students with dyslexia. Unfortunately, these students do not receive enough support and intervention at school using structured literacy strategies. As a result, these students do not become proficient readers and face many challenges and obstacles year after year.
At GLC, we use a reading intervention program to help students with dyslexia. We are looking for volunteers to be a part of our team for in-person or online help for our students. The hours and times can be flexible to accommodate your schedule. If you would like to get involved or for more information, please contact Esther Yoo at esthery@gardenlearningcenter.org.
